Description

This unit is designed primarily for students with no experience in French. It is based both on communicative methodology and a functional approach to language. Its main objective is to teach the learner how to communicate and use grammar appropriately in a range of situations, while learning about French culture. It also teaches the learner to talk about language and understand basic linguistic principles. Speaking, writing, listening and reading comprehension skills, will be developed through communicative activities. In addition, online resources and grammar activities will complement face-to-face teaching.

NOTE: FRNC1601, Junior French 1 will be offered as part of the Early Summer School starting on 28 November as well as part of the Main Summer School starting on January 9th, 2017. Students will then be able to continue in FRNC1602, Junior French 2, which will start on January 23rd, 2017. Students who have completed FRNC1601 and FRNC1602 during the Summer School can then choose to enrol in FRNC2603, the second year beginners unit in Semester 1 in the Department of French and Francophone Studies. Please contact Jacqueline Murguet if you have any questions about FRNC1601 and FRNC1602 offered in the Main / Late Summer School in January, Jacqueline.murguet@sydney.edu.au
